Barcelona · Independent Venture Lab
We explore what is coming.
We invest in what can change it.
Kairosia Labs is the investment, venture creation and technology exploration arm of Kairosia. We invest in startups, incubate new businesses and explore technologies capable of redefining the software industry.
Invest · Build · Explore
01 — Three ways we explore the future
One judgment, three activities.
We are not a venture capital fund or an accelerator. We are an independent, selective and experimental lab. The same business judgment decides what deserves capital, what deserves to be built and what deserves to be researched.
- 01Invest
Venture Portfolio
We back founders with technology and competitive advantages that are hard to replicate.
Invest - 02Build
Venture Incubator
We turn business hypotheses into products, evidence and new companies.
Build - 03Explore
Deep Tech Research
We research the technologies and architectures that can transform software.

02 — Invest
Venture PortfolioOur own capital.
Long-term conviction.
We invest in technology startups with exceptional founders, propositions that are hard to replicate and the ability to build sustainable competitive advantages.
We do not manage third-party money. We invest our own capital, with long horizons and without the pressure of a fund to deploy or return capital on fixed schedules.
What we look for
- Founders with deep knowledge of the problem they solve.
- Technology or data that creates an advantage that is hard to copy.
- Business models that improve with scale rather than depend on it.
- Markets where AI changes the rules, not just the processes.
Portfolio
We will publish portfolio companies as each one authorises disclosure. We do not publish ticket sizes, valuations or ownership percentages.
03 — Build
Venture IncubatorFrom a hypothesis
to a viable business.
We identify business problems, formulate hypotheses, develop prototypes and validate their commercial potential before committing significant resources.
It is a proprietary venture studio: projects are born inside Labs, built by our team and, if they pass validation, become independent companies with their own leadership. We do not incubate third-party ideas.
How projects progress
- 01
Exploration
A concrete business problem, a solution hypothesis and the criteria that will decide whether it deserves to continue.
- 02
Validation
Working prototype, first users and real evidence on willingness to pay and cost of acquisition.
- 03
Company
Incorporated entity, its own management team and a capital plan. Labs remains as founding shareholder.
- 04
Archive
Closed, documented hypotheses. Learning what does not work is part of the method, not a failure to hide.
Projects
Project profiles —problem, thesis, status, learnings and next milestone— will be published once they no longer constitute strategically sensitive information.
04 — Explore
Deep Tech ResearchWe research the next
architectures of software.
We explore emerging technologies whose maturation can open new product categories, economic models and ways of building systems. Five research lines, each organised around a question.
- 01
AI-Native Software Architecture
How do we design software when agents replace part of the traditional logic?
What changes in architecture, state and interfaces when part of a system's behaviour is no longer written in code but inferred.
- 02
Autonomous Software Engineering
How far can the software lifecycle be reliably automated?
The real limits of coding agents in specifying, building, testing and maintaining systems that must run in production for years.
- 03
Persistent Institutional Memory
How do we build organisational memory that is verifiable and usable by agents?
How to capture an organisation's decisions, context and judgment so that systems can use it without inventing or degrading the information.
- 04
Verifiable Agentic Systems
How do we guarantee traceability, control and accountability over autonomous decisions?
Mechanisms to audit, constrain and attribute the actions of agents operating autonomously within critical business processes.
- 05
Economics of AI-Native Software
How do software costs, prices and competitive advantages change?
What happens to margins, pricing models and barriers to entry when the cost of building software falls and the cost of operating it changes in nature.
Proposed research agenda. These are not completed studies or demonstrated scientific results. We will publish theses, experiments and results as they progress.
05 — A note on independence
Labs invests. Kairosia advises. Never the other way round.
Kairosia is an independent advisory firm: it does not sell technology or take vendor commissions. Labs' investments and projects do not condition any recommendation to a client of the firm.
When a Labs holding could be relevant to an advisory engagement, it is disclosed before we start. If the conflict is material, we decline the engagement.

06 — Founder
Founded by experience. Driven by curiosity.
Kairosia Labs is an initiative founded by Aníbal Carmona, technology entrepreneur and investor, after four decades creating and leading software companies.
It combines patient capital, business experience and technology exploration to identify and develop new opportunities.
07 — Contact
If you are building something hard to replicate, let's talk.
